You want to push yourself creatively and be inspired to get words down on the page. With the guidance and mentoring of an experienced writer and teacher you will receive feedback, encouragement and help in formulating a strategy for success. We call them Boot Camps because we focus on meeting you where you are and helping you explore and grow as a writer.

Which boot camp is right for me?

Begins Boot Camp: No need for a work-in-progress we will start from scratch. The week is all about the creative spark, exploring the impulse to write and getting our writing muscles primed. You may be an absolute beginner or someone who needs to fall in love with writing again. We will do a lot of creativity exercises and produce vignettes and short pieces of writing that will culminate in a short story, essay or extract that can kick start a longer project.

Prepares Boot Camp: You have an idea for a novel, short story, nonfiction or some other longer piece. You may have some notes, maybe even a chapter. This week focuses on turning that idea into a plan, getting the basic elements of writing craft down and putting those to work on your material. Everything is focused on developing your manuscript. We will write scenes, explore character, plot, dialogue and structure culminating in a chapter or two, an outline and a plan for moving forward with your book-length work.

Progresses Boot Camp: You have solid idea and at least a few chapters of your project. This week is about tackling the problem areas, fine-tuning our understanding of the writer's tools to improve your writing and move your project towards completion. In this mentored course, you will have daily one-to-one feedback and everything is tailored specifically to your manuscript. You will leave with a solid plan and revised chapters.

Practicalities

Course Length: Starts Saturday evening, ends Saturday morning  (7 nights)

Schedule: Breakfast is available each day from 08:00. Lunch 13:30. Cocktail(Mocktail) hour 19:00. Dinner 20:00.

Travel Details: Our main airport and pick-up/drop-off location is Murcia (San Javier) Airport.
Coordinated with the EasyJet Flight from London Gatwick (Flight EZY8553 arriving 18:25 on Saturdays) and the return flight from Murcia to Gatwick (EZY8554 departing 19:00 on Saturdays).

For those not originating in or transiting through London, Alicante Airport is likely the best option with flights to destinations all over Europe and beyond. There is a direct bus from the airport to Murcia, we can collect you there. We will coordinate pick-up times with those of you traveling via Alicante. As always, please let us know of any questions or help you need sorting travel. Happy to help.

Accommodation: We've selected a couple of large beachfront apartments in the same beautiful gated development for their location, views and relaxing qualities. You will have a room with a comfy bed, a writing desk, a wardrobe and other creature comforts to make it a productive week for you. We’ve optimized the communal areas, including a huge covered balcony (there are pictures of it on this page) so you can work and chill in comfort. There is space for up 4 people at a time spread out over the two properties.

Meals & Drinks: Breakfast, lunch & dinner each day, including wine & cocktails. Coffee, tea, juices, soft drinks and snacks available all the time.

Cost: £895 SALE £695 includes EVERYTHING except travel to Spain. £165 deposit due at time of booking to secure place. Balance due 45 days before course/retreat starts.
