The Misse Art Experience

Working on a still life
The Armoury at Oiron Chateau

These weekend art and painting experiences provide you with an inspiring break in the Loire Valley countryside to immerse yourself in a world of beauty, sensory exploration, experimentation, and artistic growth. Work with encouraging and talented painters to guide you through the experience and you have the perfect painting escape.

Who Attends? - Everyone. Intended for painters of all levels—from absolute beginners to highly experienced—these courses are tailored to your goals and skills; whether it’s merely to try it out, to learn, examine or master different techniques. We use teaching techniques that meet you where you are in terms of knowing your way around the palette and canvas. These courses suit any skill level. For more experienced painters, our teachers will conduct sessions to help you experiment with new methods and chart a course for continued growth. For novices, they will suggest next steps and exercises to improve skills. In addition, and for all levels, we will take time out to visit exhibits to study the techniques and works of other artists. We provide all equipment, but feel free to bring your own if you have it.

How does it work? - Whether you are an experienced painter or have never picked up a brush, these weekend courses will effortlessly guide you through all the things you need to get started or move to the next level. It's the perfect weekend getaway in the Loire Valley and a great way to capture the beauty and spirit of the region.

Our painting courses are social, convivial and a lot of fun, but we will also have you painting at a level that will inspire you, improve your skills and broaden your interests and abilities. Along with further developing painting skills, these courses are also the perfect key to unlocking the real 'joie de vivre' opening the door to the romance and allure of France filling you with the joy, excitement and appreciation of its beauty and cultural richness. It will help you to get most out of your time in the country. After booking, we’ll ask you about your interests in painting, things you’d like to know more about, or are curious about, as well as your experience and goals. We’ll use this information to shape the course to suit you.

What will I take away? - You’ll discover the joys and challenges of working 'alla prima' while acquiring and enhancing your basic knowledge of drawing, composition, colour mixing and value structure. One of our professional painters will teach you to see with a painter’s eye, translating your subjects to canvas with truly gratifying results. Whether painting “en plein aire” at one of our favourite spots in the countryside, or capturing the sheen of an oyster in a still-life, you will have plenty of time to paint and receive feedback and encouragement. The creative process gives the artist the opportunity to contemplate and reflect on his or her surroundings. Our world, be it of objects or ideas, elicits an emotional response which the artist endeavours to communicate. Besides more confidence and appreciation for the beauty of objects and the art of painting, you'll also leave with a completed painting.
