Wine-Tasting Weekends

Misse wine weekends are about getting to know and love the Loire and its wines. We will enjoy wine tasting sessions accompanied by French style Tapas, each designed to compliment the wine. We take time to talk about the variety of grapes and wines in the region and discuss some of the changes to wine-making over the last century. We will take lunch out, in Chinon or Saumur, and spend an afternoon visiting wineries in the area. We will also visit a selected winery and have the winemaker take us out to the vines and talk through their work (as long as he or she is not in the middle of harvesting grapes).

Our first weekend of 2012, March 22-25, is built around the 'Salon des Vins et Terroirs à Thouars' a wonderful event in our local town. Last year's wine and food festival featured almost a hundred independent wine-makers: all of those from our region, many from the surrounding Loire and some interesting producers from around the country. It is the perfect opportunity to meet a large number of makers and to sample their wines. Our resident wine expert will be on hand to translate questions and answers, he will also be happy to share his favourites with you.

Weekend Courses - Bookable Dates:

March  22-25 - Salon des Vins et Terroirs à Thouars - (three nights)

July  6-8 - (two nights)

October  5-7 - (two nights)

Misse wine weekends cost £275. All wines and food consumed during the course are included in the price. To secure places a deposit of £50, per participant, is due at the time of booking; the balance is due 45 days before the course starts.

Bed & breakfast can be arranged either at the house or in nearby hotels for £50 per room, per night (single or two people sharing). Dinner can also be arranged.
