Carol Breese

Carol Breese studied Art at Manchester University, earning a BA honours in Interior Design. She then followed her passion for teaching, obtaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.

She has taught Art and Design at Secondary and Senior level in schools in Manchester, Greater London, South Buckinghamshire and Houston, Texas; as well as Life Drawing classes at Stockport College of Art and Design and several adult painting courses in both Europe and the U.S. Her long and successful arts education career also involved management at a senior level. Working closely with the Advisory Service she was instrumental in the development of Art Education within South Buckinghamshire.

Carol believes that creativity develops best in an atmosphere where students are encouraged and praised through positive reinforcement. Her main aim when teaching is to make the learning process a happy and enjoyable experience.

If at the end of a course my students are happy, have enjoyed themselves, feel that they have learned something and are proud of what they have accomplished, then I’m happy too.

Different painting disciplines require specific techniques in order to achieve success. Carol is expert in the use of oils, acrylics and water colours with over 35 years’ experience. She also likes to experiment with different mediums and processes such as combining painting and collage. She believes the key to a successful painting is a well thought out composition drawn accurately onto paper, board or canvas. Carol takes her students through an analytical process (often involving exploring technically successful works by other artists) that equips them with the confidence and understanding to plan and execute a successful outcome.
