Emma Sweeney

Biography

Emma Sweeney studied English at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge University and the Creative Writing MA at the University of East Anglia (MA: distinction). Since graduation from UEA in 2004, Emma has published fiction in literary magazines in the UK, USA and Ireland, such as Ducts, Nerve, and The Dublin Quarterly. She also has short stories forthcoming in Inter-lit Q and Prole. She has also won various writing competitions (including an Arts Council Escalator Award and a Royal Literary Fund Bursary) and been short-listed for various others (including The Asham Award, International Fish Award and Wasafiri Prize).

Emma Sweeney Interview - Literary Conversations 

Emma divides her time between her two passions: writing (she is a fellow of Armenia's Arts and Cultural Studies Laboratory and New York's Byrdcliffe Artists' Colony) and teaching (she has taught at New York University in London, the Open University and City University, as well as in various community settings). Emma was recently awarded an Open University Faculty Studentship to work on her novel, My Broken Twin, alongside research into literary representations of characters with learning disabilities.
